0093: Redesigning Rockford

The concept art keeps coming in so it's time for another Minor League Week here at Icethetics. We're getting started with the AHL's Rockford IceHogs. Dylan Alexander says he was always a fan of the team's old "pig butt" logo so he's brought it back for this set of sweaters.

But that's not all...

Benjamin Boese wanted to try something a little simpler as an alternate jersey for the IceHogs. What do you think of these two sets?

I am a big fan of what Dylan did to the primary... That blue in the background doesn't show up anywhere else in the team's branding any more (they had some blue in the jerseys when they were in the UHL), and really only serves as contrast. The white in its place offer plenty of contrast, and make is clean and feels less busy. Great attention to detail, Dylan! Also, I know that the fans in Rockford really love and miss their pig butts. Its odd and quirky, but a much better logo than their primary when looking at the two logos design and simplicity.

Icehogs is just a bad team name and logo. it would be hard to do anything good with it.

I personally am not a huge fan of the "pig butt", since it pretty much takes out an creativity of possibly making fun of a team. I mean, if I was an owner and my team was playing like crap, I would force them to wear those jerseys. It should be more of a form punishment than a logo.

Thanks Double B! You seem to know exactly what I was thinking while working on these jerseys. As for Black[box], I know the butt logo can be an easy target but for us Rockford folk, that logo has a nostalgic appeal to it.
