0201: Stars Re-Bourne
The next installment of Andrew Bourne's series of NHL makeovers features the Dallas Stars without a touch of green or gold in sight.
Dallas has one of the worst jersey sets in the NHL. The jersey is very plain and actually seems to try and mimic the jerseys of the main sport in Dallas, football. Although I understand that it is hard to get people to watch an unconventional sport in a warm city, there are other ways to grab a Texan's attention.
I wanted to utilize the Texas state flag (red, white & blue). Trying not to make a political team, I adjusted the red to a bit of a more deep red and the blue to be a bit darker than that of the blue on the US flag. I added yellow to the color scheme to try and have a feeling of a star. After all, the team is called the Stars. The yellow definitely gives the whole scheme a unique feeling and sets it apart from another patriotic color palette.

i certainly see where you're going with this, and you have some good ideas, but they don't work in the execution.
Appreciate the idea and effort, but it just doesn't get it done for me.
your colour scheme is problematic. I did not see red white and plue. I saw black red and yellow. These look like flames jerseys not stars jerseys. The striping is perhaps the best I have seen in this series, the home and road striping look really cool. although I would add some more to the body of the sweater, those tiny corner stripes are barely worth having there as they are currently used.
bottom line is that these sweaters do not look like the texas flag, or any other dallas stars sweaters.
First thought when I saw the jerseys: Florida Panthers
Please, no more red and blue or red and black. Enough already. I actually like these concepts, but I really hope no teams really go with these color schemes. Try something more original and less over done. With Columbus, the Rangerks, Florida, Washington, Calgary, New Jersey, Chicago and even Detroit to an extent, the red/black, red/blue schemes are done.
You can't take the green out of the BIG-D. I think that generally the Rebourne series is pretty good, but this, like the Sabres' jersey before, ignores the history of the team. I like the IDEA of putting red, white, and blue into a Texas team, but seeing it executed doesn't look very good to me. Keep the green from the Minnesota connection. However, THANKS FOR GIVING A LOGO BACK!
Pretty sure this would be a step in the wrong direction
I think this looks terrible, they should go back to the dark green jerseys....
People always talk about not ruining a good thing from the past. Me being a huge stars fan I think green has to be on the jersey. i totally agree by switching the look of it, even tweeking the logo. But no green is a no no in my mind.
They remind me too much of the old Panthers jerseys...
Florida Stars
1/5, just for the simple fact that I hate any proposal to change a team's colors under any circumstance.
The Stars are green, gold, and black. Let's keep it at that, but give them an actual logo for a change.
Simple and geometric logos like the Canadiens, Lightning, Hurricanes, Bruins, and Flyers all have something very specific in common - no more than two colors.
The Stars have one of those logos. The use of 4 different colours on this one makes the logo look like it was cobbled together with refrigerator magnets.
The Jersey design is ok by itself.
There's a reason why the letters and the star have a unified color scheme: so both the word 'Stars' and the star shape itself are clearly visible. Breaking it all up in different colors ruins the logo.
The use of the new Texas colors doesn't work too well either. The red on blue (or vice versa) for the logo makes it tough to look at.
And my last complaint, the pencil-thin lines for the numbers. They gotta be beefier so they are easier on the eyes.
"Dallas has one of the worst jersey sets in the NHL."
Agreed, but the colors are not the reason. Stars have a great color scheme. This was approached from a totally wrong direction.
I'm definitely in favor of adding more color to the Stars' jerseys, but this color scheme makes me think of the Panthers. I think the jersey design meshes well with the logo and the style fits in with Dallas' pre-RBK edge jerseys even though it's quite different. I like it.
Please no! I'm a Stars fan, and always will be, but an "american" themed redesign would just ruin the team for me. Green, Black and Gold. Those are Dallas Stars colours, and always should be.
I do like the actual concept, though, great templates! Just please not those colours!
This has got to be one of the worst concepts ever posted on here. Absolutely nothing to like here. Sorry bud, but you really missed the mark with this. Awful
