0612: If Nike Did the Blackhawks

What if Nike took over producing NHL uniforms? Based on reactions to this year's Olympic jerseys, I think a lot of you would be displeased. But here's John Elbertson's take on a Nike version of the untouchable Blackhawks' uniforms.

If I separate this concept from the past and present Blackhawks' uniforms, I think that this concept actually looks pretty cool. If the Chicago Blackhawks were a new franchise with no history and these were their jerseys, I'd think they looked nice.

I actually think that's mild compared to what Nike would actually do.

i may hate the hawks but i would never want to see them on the ice looking like that.

Who drove over the sleeves of the black jersey?

The white jersey is interesting though. I wouldn't like to see the Blackhawks wearing them, but the wordmark actually doesn't look half bad (and this is coming from a guy who tends to hate wordmarks on hockey jerseys). It's cool in a baseball sort of way.

Needs a fauxback collar and hard-to-see tomahawks blended into the shoulders.

i just hope and pray that Nike never ever get the contract!!!

Normally I dislike wordmark jerseys but I really don't mind this one. It's different, would make for a good alternate.

Widen the red stripe on the white one, and that IS the Hurricanes uniform

Actually, the shoulder patch and the arm numbers would probably switch places. It looks ugly but Nike likes putting the numbers up there.

No, if these were real Nike jerseys, there would be a fake lace-up collar, little Stanley Cups on the front for each title they've won, and the secondary logo on the shoulder would be shiny and the same color as the fabric.

First off, I will note that this isn't the first time Nike manufactured (or, would have, in a sense) Chicago jerseys. From 1996-1999, they apparently made their jerseys.

On that note, these jerseys are...eh. I'm indifferent with the Olympic jerseys thus far, and I don't have too much of an opinion on this one. It's...okay, at best.

Where are the fake laces? Can't be Nike without the fake laces!

So Reebok Edge is too boring but Nike is too crazy? Time for Under Armour to step up

I agree with Jeremy; if there was no rich tradition in Chicago, these are not a set.
That also being said, as Flames fan, one could adjust for the C, some yellow and the new shoulder patch, and I think sell it very easily! Especially if going with a word mark Calgary.

this needs to be a thing. "if nike designed". please do all teams. :)

@NASCARFAN160 - I think there seems to be a different reaction to Nike getting involved in supplying jerseys now than there was in the 1990's. Back then it seemed like the teams provided the designs to Nike and they manufactured the uniforms. Now it seems like Nike is far more involved in the design process. Now that needn't be a bad thing, except Nike is trying to re-invent the wheel when it comes to designing hockey jerseys. And that doesn't sit well with many.

the white away jersey has to have the Indian Head on the shoulders
