0625: Brooklyn Black

I'm really digging this black Islanders concept from Brian Brideau both because of its nod to Brooklyn's hockey history as well as the use of a distinct black and white design. The white sleeves are a welcome feature. Thoughts? (Apart from how much I've been posting Brian's work lately!)

I like it enough, it's just hard to distinguish between all these black and white Brooklyn concepts. I notice the colors (or lack of colors) well before the design itself.

one of the better black versions for the isles. wouldn't mind seeing this. not sure how rangers fans would feel about it, though.

Black and white with no other colours just don't work for hockey jerseys. I keep saying over and over, the NHL needs more colourful jerseys NOT more black. Black should be banned as a primary colour for jerseys.

I said it before, and I'll say it now. I think there should be only one team, at most, with a black/white color scheme. L.A. is good enough paying tribute to the Gretzky era with their awesome jerseys, there doesn't need to be another one.

That said, this is just a concept. It's an alright concept, I guess. The script turns me off. I don't think there should ever be an Isles' jersey without the legendary iconic logo on the crest. Well, other then the Fisherman jerseys, which were pretty alright IMO. Other than that this concept is eh.

As long as the Rangers are around, I can't see the Islanders going with diagonal lettering as a jersey.

I don't get it either. Only black and white just doesn't work for me. I think the NBA logo for the Nets is just plain dull. An Islander version wouldn't be an improvement either.
