0420: Rocky Mountain Classic
Saturday · Apr 13 · 2013 | 9:01 AM PDT 8 Comments
This Winter Classic Weekend takes us to the Mile High City for an outdoor match-up between the Colorado Avalanche and the St. Louis Blues — only designer Mike Bell has the Avs sporting a Rockies-inspired uniform. The Rockies trace their lineage to today's New Jersey Devils. Not sure the Avalanche would be wild about that notion. The Blues sweater is pretty neat though. This obviously would no longer be an option for 2014, but maybe 2015?

Those Avs jerseys are beauts. I love that colour scheme. The Blues ones are great too. Again, Icethetics should be the official uniform source for the NHL.
Nice set of sweaters. More importantly, nice recognition of colorado amendment 64 with concept post #420. Much appreciated.
Personally, I think any throwback Blues jersey should include a little red, otherwise, I like the Blues jerseys. I'm just not sold on the Avs.
With that Blues jersey, I think Buffalo is going to be a little upset...
Remove the "St.Louis" wordmark from the Blues' jersey and you have a 5 star concept. Besides that, job well done.
While the Colorado Rockies did use those colors, they were originally drawn from the Colorado state flag, so even if the Avalanche didn't want people to link them with the former franchise, they could still use the jerseys suggested here. Simply play it up as being inspired by the flag, rather than the Rockies.
Either way, both jerseys are really interesting. I'm personally not a fan of the city name sharing space with a logo on the front of a jersey (yes, Vancouver, that means you), but the Blues jersey's still a great, clean look, even with that minor nitpick.
The 1 in 2014 is screwed up.
Love the "St.Louis" across the top. Gotta represent!! Secondly, it fits the Blues true throwback jersey. It doesn't make sense to have an early 1900's type jersey for the Blues, therefore the late 70's, early 80's makes perfect sense. Awesome!
