With Haiti In Mind

Last night I posed the notion that creating Haitian concept jersey designs (I know, ice hockey in Haiti) could be a small way for Icethetics artists to bring a little awareness to the earthquake disaster victims. Nothing big, but a few of you did decide to get involved.
Here's some of the artwork I've received in the past 24 hours.
Thanks to everyone who participated in this. Well done! And if you're still working on a submission, don't stop now. I'll keep posting them as long as you all keep sending them!
A couple more just came in. Check them out.
The Haiti memorial concept art just keeps coming. Thank you guys a ton for participating!
Jeff has come up with one of the most complete identities for the fictional Haitian ice hockey club. The well-designed crest stands out on very sharp jerseys. You'll notice Jeff has incorporated the various elements of the flag seal in his logo. Though the striping comes awfully close to crossing the line of what's tasteful, I'm still quite impressed with the effort put in. If only we could actually do something real with one of these awesome jersey designs. |

Brad has taken a different approach with his white concept jersey. The shield on the front is rather bold as are the multi-colored stripes evocative of Caribbean art. It's simple but that's why it works. |

Lastly, Brett sent in this jersey design, which I think is quite possibly the most realistic of any submitted so far. If a nation like Haiti were to ever actually field a hockey team, I'd be willing to bet that little time would be spent being overly creative with the jerseys. Brett also dug up a bit of hockey/Haiti trivia to share:
Also worth mentioning is Georges Laraque, who now plays for his home team, Montreal Canadiens. While Laraque himself was born in Canada, his parents are both from Haiti. As of last Thursday, he was still waiting to hear from family members in the devastated region. |
More to come tomorrow.
I'm really stunned by the response to the idea of creating jerseys for Haiti. As some of you have mentioned, it would be incredibly cool if a pro team somewhere could pick up one of these designs, manufacture them, and hold an auction for the earthquake victims. Fingers crossed!
I don't know how many more concepts I'll receive from you guys, but as long as they keep coming, I'll keep adding them to this post. Thanks so much for participating! (By the way, I sent a small donation to the Red Cross' Haiti relief efforts on behalf of Icethetics and you guys!)
Got a few more in the last couple of days.

hey brendan klein, if you are reading this, where did you get your pants template? thanks in advance
Thats what mine needed a nike logo nice idea jake ;)
Correct me if im wrong on your last comment, but is Nike not the manufacturer for international jerseys?
I know the make them for Team Canada
Colton, you are correct but I was merely pointing out that the template used for this jersey design is Reebok Edge.
I still like nike jerseys more than reebok
The split jersey by Jake also features the motto off Haiti's flag inside the bottom stripe.
A motto that is very true in these times
L'union fait la force - Unity makes us stronger
Nicely done...
Actually like Jake's concept the best, it's definitely unique. And you're absolutely right, "Unity makes us stronger". I sure hope this can be true internationally as well. Our thoughts and prayers are with everyone affected.
Gingras concept is flawless, except the white pants!
Some nice work. Wouldn't it be something if somebody took note of this and had one of these jerseys made to be worn in a hockey game? With half the proceeds going to help relief efforts of course. I'd love to see more ideas giving the jerseys a more tropical hockey feel without feeling too tacky. For example, Gingras' Concept is one of the best, but it feels a bit too northern for a jersey describing a more southern area.
should i change the white pants to blue or red?
Go with Blue Hunter, I think the red would leave you with too little in the blue department as the jersey itself has enough red to suffice, whereas the blue shoulders are high enough to seem like there isn't enough blue at all.
Thanks for the comments guys. I put the Nike swoosh on there just because I knew that Nike made a lot of the Olympic jerseys. Totally slipped my mind I was working with a RBKedge template :P
These are nice jerseys.
By the way Chris, is there any place on the site set up for donations to Haitian relief efforts? Or have you thought about doing that?
Mine should be finished by the end of the week.
Jake Slavik's jersey is the coolest one in my books!
Good job buddy!
Everybody loves the Haitian Sensation Claude Vilgrain!
