Olympic Spirit, Part III

You guys are clearly loving this Olympic concept art, so here's even more!

Glen Cuthbert

In the previous post, Glen had a very sharp white Team USA jersey. This is the blue one that completes the set. Not too bad. But I think with a crest that simple, the striping could be even simpler as well.

Evan Maldonado

That brings us to Evan's Team USA concept, which employs the same ghosted effect seen on some of the jerseys in this year's tournament. I'm really liking the letters in red on this one. Seems way better than the current dark jersey, but not that much is really different.

Matt Marczel

The rest of today's concepts take us to Scandinavia. Here, Matt simplifies Sweden's jerseys and gives them a white one for a change. But personally, I've always been more a fan of the blue jerseys. And technically, white isn't one of their colors. Still, a great effort.

Dallas Hicks

Dallas is trying something completely different with some of the teams that have simple flags. Here, he's adapted the cross on Finland's flag to stretch across the entire front of the jersey...

Dallas Hicks

...and he's also done the same for Norway. Nice to see the polar bear make a return. What do you guys think of these?

And as always, there's more art on tap. In the next day or so, look for more USA concepts plus one from a country that didn't even send a single athlete to Vancouver this year.

I love them, especially Norway!

I'm indifferent on the USA jerseys. The white Sweden jersey would make a cool alternate. Now the Finn's and Norwegians jerseys....NICE! I normally don't care for the small cresting on the chest, but on these jerseys it looks very sharp. Good effort.

Thanks guys! Glad you like 'em! I also did a Sweden one, with the Tre Kroner in the same place as the other logos, but Chris (understandably) didn't want to overdo it. There's also the "home" set for each, too, as well as backs. If I had the slightest clue about HTML, I'd post them somewhere. Maybe Chris might find room for the Sweden one later on?

The Norway one presented the biggest challenge for a home/away set. Reversing the blue and white and the blue and yellow for Finland and Sweden was okay, but reversing Norway's flag gives you Iceland's! I ended up keeping the same colour scheme for the cross, making the jersey white, then putting a red trim around the cross. Turned out okay, too.

Sad truth: drawing those logos took WAY longer than designing the jerseys!

Dallas. Using the Flags across the chest like that was a stroke of brilliance. I cant believe nobody thought of it before. Perhaps Sweden could get the same treatment. Maybe with the triple crown logo at the top right corner

Love the Finland and Norway ones man...as an avid reader...keep up the good work, I look forward to seeing more

Dallas has some sweet ideas, and that Norway sweater is just jaw-dropping.

I laughed a little when I saw his name because I work in radio and one of the guys I've worked with once or twice was named Dallas Hicks. I think it might be the same guy.

I actually really like the sweden's white jersey concept, and also the cross idea on norway's and finland's uniforms are pretty cool! wonder if you could center the cross and make it slightly thicker in order to have a swiss jersey like that as well...

Some nice jerseys but the finnish flag dosen't look like that, so it is a fail.....

Feb 24 · 2:59 PM PST | Unregistered CommenterTMP

The Norway and Finland ones are kind of cool.
White for Sweden, interesting but I agree, the blue is better.
I like Evan's USA design, simple but effective.

TMP, why is it a fail just because it doesn't look exactly like the flag? Canada doesn't have a red flag with a red leaf, nor does it have any black, but that doesn't mean the jerseys are fails. I think it's a great adaptation of the Finnish flag.

I think Dallas definitely has a stroke of genius. However, I think that only 1 team should do it. Whichever team calls Dallas first with an offer to buy that design should get and hold it. Instant uniqueness. Instantly memorable. Instantly awesome.

Man those Finland and Norway ones are so good but especially the Norway one. I'd buy one and I'm not even from there. I urge that the rest of the series be posted immediately!

@Eric Westhaver: I actually know OF that Dallas Hicks (he was on the radio in La Ronge, SK), but I'm not him (I'm in Regina, SK). Ironically, my day job is Air Traffic Services, and we call ourselves as "Regina Radio" on the frequencies. Small world, eh?

@TMP: Actually, Chris just chose these two for display. The White one is more like the actual Finland flag, and this uses a reverse colour scheme (I actually might try one with the dark blue and white stripe... that might be sharp, too!).

You guys are making my head swell... I'm almost afraid to send my Canada design as it might fall short of expectations! Thank you, one and all! If someone has some webspace and would like to host the whole set, let me know; I have no clue about designing webpages.

Enough about me... I agree; that white Sweden jersey would make a great alt!

Feb 25 · 10:53 AM PST | Unregistered CommenterDallas Hicks

I like these new ones too, bold choices for the US and white on the Russian arms. I think I'll be shocked if one of the nordic teams doesn't pick up Dallas' designs.

Feb 26 · 11:02 AM PST | Unregistered CommenterToby

i love that norwegian concept! great look!

Feb 26 · 11:28 AM PST | Unregistered Commenterdaltonic

I prefer the current Norway jerseys to this, but I do enjoy Dallas's Sweden jersey alot.

Feb 26 · 12:18 PM PST | Unregistered CommenterGoodsie

I like the two shades of red on Jake's Russian jersey. Agree about the font size, but I like the "K" on the front. Nice touch!

Feb 26 · 12:28 PM PST | Unregistered CommenterDallas Hicks

Moldova? Now that's unique. It's getting me imagining hockey jerseys for Saudi Arabia, Fiji, the Phillipines, Togo, Uruguay, the Vatican...

Feb 26 · 1:48 PM PST | Unregistered CommenterJacques-Andre LeBeau

Those Scandinavian jerseys are fantastic.

Feb 26 · 2:21 PM PST | Unregistered CommenterGelatinousMutantCoconut

Homerun on the Sweden flag-based jerseys!

Feb 26 · 3:09 PM PST | Unregistered CommenterMayhem

I love the Capt. America jersey! Maybe the US could do that one as an alternate at the next World Cup or 2014 Olympics. Maybe tweak the numbers a bit, but it's fantastic!

Feb 27 · 9:00 AM PST | Unregistered CommenterJeff

actually moldova did send athletes to vancouver, or at least one cause he participated in the mends slalom today

Feb 27 · 12:13 PM PST | Unregistered CommenterJhero

Moldova sent 7 athletes to Vancouver.... 4 males and 3 females, all in skiing events I believe.

Mar 1 · 1:08 AM PST | Unregistered CommenterJD

Moldova use to be a part of Russia before the breakup. I read somewhere that they will be participating in IIHF soon, they were recently accepted.

Mar 1 · 9:07 PM PST | Unregistered CommenterMark

I should do a Kyrgyzstan concept. Maybe one for Bhutan with a big dragon across the front.

Mar 2 · 5:00 PM PST | Unregistered CommenterEthan

man that finland jersey is sweet. russia looks great too.
