0001: The Seattle Metros

Today, the Concepts page is relaunching with a new post every day! As promised, we're starting with Seattle — which has been in the news this week after announcing plans for a proposed hockey arena. With the possibility that the Phoenix Coyotes could relocate to Washington state, Ryan Haslett tried his hand a potential rebranding. He's brought back the name of the city's original team — the Seattle Metropolitans and combined a couple of well known logos to create one for his new team.

Not a big fan of the logo as a hockey crest, but love the colors and design. Throw retro stripes on the pants and that's a winner!

I can't quite tell if that's black or navy. Regardless, it looks great to me!

excellent start for the new concepts era (very happy to see them come back by the way), like the logos a lot, great color combination as well, think i like the white jersey just a bit more than the black one tho (could it do with green numbers maybe?). another top quality design from ryan haslett.....

Well as happy as I am that the Concepts page is up and running - I feel like you could've started with a "better" concept. The concept isn't all that bad - I jsut don't think that Seattle will be an N.H.L. city. The city is WAY too close to Vancouver, and their market is gigantic; and with the Coyotes - the odds are that they'll end up in Quebec City (they've revived the Jets, why not the Nordiques?). With taht being said... the concept isn't bad. I wish that they wouldn't've gone with the blue and green (just because they're close to Vancouver) - but the logo is good!

I don't know if it's just me but it looks like a dark green on light green colors. Either way I love it and would totally get one!!

This is killer. Classic. Maybe you've swapped out colors since the post, but I see black and green. I love the shade of green. I would be concerned that the only color in the logo is the negative space. I think that might present a problem, marketing wise? There may be plenty of other logos like that but off the top of my head I can't think of any.

The colours are...
"Cascade Shale" RGB: 29-37-45 (a navy blue of sorts)
and
"Asparagus Green" RGB: 120-161-91
trimmed with
Silver RGB: 200-200-200

I think it's definitely on the right track (monorail pun not intended...until I said it wasn't intended, anyway). I would like to see the primary crest not have any words on it and I'd like to see the green more widely used on the uniform, though not necessarily the jersey (maybe the gloves and pants get some green striping/accents). Definitely a solid set (4/5).

Oh, and I'm really excited to have the concepts page back and (hopefully) staying fresh with the new concept-a-day system!

I love the colour scheme. The log is a bit junior-leaguish. I'd get rid of the lettering. But awesome concept!

Agree with the previous post about the logo and the color scheme. Could probably find a better logo, but the concept and color scheme fit right into the city's sports market. Fits right in with the Sounders and Seahawks. Probably won't happen with the Coyotes, but I'd love to see an expansion team here.

i really like this concept!!! it seams that cascade shale(navy) and asparagus green have become the unofficial colors of Seattle much like black and gold/yellow are in Pittsburgh!!!

Looks good, but looks a bit busy from a distance. Maybe the Needle by itself would be more distinctive? I like the colours though.

Green should be the home instead of navy blue (we have enough blue in the league already)

Agree with Jipper - greene is more "seattle" than blue - otherwise it looks good.....
