0038: Dreaming of Electric Stripes
Tuesday · Mar 27 · 2012 | 9:00 AM PDT 16 Comments
We haven't looked at the Tampa Bay Lightning in a while. (A month to the day, actually.) Hermilo Munoz sent in this concept and speaking as a lifelong Bolts backer, I'm immensely impressed. If someone said they were going to make stripes out of lightning bolts, we'd all surely imagine something very minor league in nature. Yet somehow, this manages to look awfully professional in its simplicity. I would snatch up this jersey in a heartbeat. And if I voted on these concepts, I'd try to give this one six stars. Some of you are sure to disagree with me, but I think this is incredibly well done!

Doesn't quite work for me as a whole. The concept is an interesting one though. The idea of lightning as stripes could work.
It's a whole lot better than what they have now, but not as good as what they used to wear.
Yep. Disagree with you. It does look a little minor league to me..... AT LEAST Hermilo understands that they need to have the black back. There should never be confusion as to which team is playing, and I find myself confused every time I see them wearing Leafs' colors...aka every game this season. Remember the Bolts-Leafs game? It was like watching a Maple Leafs training camp game with Squad A and Squad B! If I were the Lightning, I wouldn't really want to be constantly mistaken for the Maple Leafs!
yeah... and those stripes will look funny on the arm/side, like a weird U, which i'm not sure is avoidable.
Sorry, but it looks a lot like a minor league team to me...
Thats looks great! This jersey design is so electric, in an awesome way. Very energizing design, I'd love to skate around in that!
I like the basic idea and the design, but I think there are two things to change to sharpen it up just a bit. I think the white outline of the lightning bolt is a little too wide (it makes the striping overpower the crest IMO rather than compliment it) and I'd darken the blue a bit; I think if the blue were more muted, it would come across as sharper. Definitely an interesting style choice...definitely a good job of thinking outside the box on this one!
I dig the bolts on the arms...not so much on the front and back. I like the return to black and blue but I actually like our new powerbolt.
Not bad. Good work in fact.
I think having the waist stripes diagonal pointing toward the center would take this concept to the next level.
You'd like anything having to do with Tampa Bay. Such a homer. They're a joke.
This should have been a Freak Out Friday.
A pretty good design, it's nice to see a jersey concept that doesn't just replace a jersey style with stripes coupled together. Only thing I would critique, is perhaps removing the State of Florida from the logo design. So as to not get confused by the Florida Lightning (and yes I am well aware that Tampa Bay is in Florida, however I think the Panther fans would throw a hissy fit).
When I heard the Lightning were going to add a black alternate I figured they would do something like bring back their jersey from the previous few seasons with the Edge design...this however, is by far the best concept I've seen for the Lightning. Not trying to offend anyone here that does Lightning concepts, but if the Lightning were to go to a black alternate I'd love to see them wear this a few games a year. Very well done. I would even buy this one.
Those are nice. Not a huge fan of the current uniforms
I like em! A lightning jersey purchase is in my near future since my buddy signed with them yesterday!
Responding to Eric: Im an Oilers fan and if you havent noticed the Flames' shoulder patches consist of the Canadian Flag and the Alberta Flag. How do you think we feel lol
