0059: Making the Coyotes More Interesting

When the Phoenix Coyotes were rebranded in 2003, the simplistic design was a complete 180 from their original look. What Nick Burton seems to be doing here is trying to make the Coyotes look interesting again. He's brought back the old logo to use as an alternate and opted for the color palette of the team's current third jersey. It's not perfect, but I'd call it an upgrade.

i love the new design, the jerseys are great. But i think it would look alot better if you put black pants on the home uniform

Don't usually say anything negative and trying to be sensative to the designer but the only one that is decent is the Third. The current home and away are fantastic. One of the tops in the league. Maybe not "interesting" but they are classic and more teams could use that look instead of the Reebok look.

It's a start but the off white/antique white has to go. It's already over used and abused throughout the league. It's use here just makes the design look dirty.

It's too plain, looks like the Blackhawks setup but with Yotes logo and colors... Look at the new logo art styles, they have a personality that you need to serve in the jersey design. This isn't an original 6 team, so it doesn't have to look like one. I'd say the 3rd jersey design is closer, if anything.

Not a fan of the tan. Maybe replace it with white and see what happens with the look. I like the idea of black pants to go with the black jersey too.

Bring back the original jerseys! Am I the only one who loved the unique very Southwest, design of the original desert jersey?

I'd like these, the only thing is the paws print on the sholders would look great on the alternate as the main logo, especially on the real jerseys that the team wears now, because the leaping Coyote on the current alternate looks like it has hooves instead of paws. It may not matter anymore because this could be it for the Yotes in the desert, as theres rumours of this team moving soon, hope someone steps up and gives the Phoenix area a true chance at survival with the right owner in place this could succeed.

I actually enjoy the third, always liked the old logo for some reason, and seeing it revamped looks nice. And the sand color works great on the third and home, not so sure about the road.

@Pathoffman The color, I believe, is actually the "sand" color (a tan representing the desert) unless the designer purposely swapped sand for antique white. If anything, the Coyotes should be on the short list of teams allowed to use tan, off-white, etc.

I'm having a hard time rating this set. I go back and forth from 4/5 stars to 2/3 stars. The thing that my focus and question comes on is the striping: I love the look on the home, but can't decide if there are two too many stripes or if I live the 5-stripe look. On the away, my debate is more about using black in the striping rather than a red/tan/red/tan/red pattern.

I really like the look, and would love to see the stripes altered a bit (maybe 3 somewhat-wider stripes?) and the black traded for sand/tan on the road. Zack may have a point on the pants for the home uni, though I like it with the red pants as well.

The alternate is cool, though I prefer the coyote-paw shoulder logos to the crescent moon (the crescent moon should be used in the center ice circle, though).

I really like the home and away, especially the arm stripes.. I would lose the shoulder logo though, probably because I don't like that paw print logo they have. But I think the shoulder yokes would look better with out it... JMO.
Since the yotes have that sand/light beige colour in their palette already, I think the sand colour road jersey is a nice change from white, kinda like the London Knights in the OHL. Love it.
The third jersey is lacking.... something. But so is their current third jersey. I like that you brought back the old coyote head though.

Substitute white for the tan on the home and aways, put in the three stripe design and keep this AWESOME third and you have my vote for what the team should wear when we are not in Quebec next year. Pray for Hossa. Go Yotes

I like the Home jersey, I'm a big fan of the coyotes but their home jerseys are among the most bland jerseys in the NHL.

That being said I think the away is a little much. I understand the tan and feel that they're among the very few that are able to use it, but I think it's a bit much.

I also belong to the group who loved the first logo the Yotes used. It was truly original. The current logos are just generic and forgettable.

So I especially like what you did with the third, tweaking the old logo a little and using the current color scheme.

I like the striping/yoke scheme here overall, but like Drew, would like to see the black removed from the striping on the away jersey. I would change the pants on both home and away outfits to black. On the third, I would go to the full-body version of the original logo, too. Otherwise, looks to me like a good update to the current scheme.

Ideally, i'd like to see Phoenix go all the way back to the original jerseys with the dark red/green colours though. Such a unique jersey.
