0175: California's Winter Classic

This is so silly it almost seems like it should've been posted on a Friday. But then again, if the Panthers think Florida can host a Winter Classic, why couldn't California? Nevill Carney pits the Kings against the Sharks, oddly, instead of the Ducks. But if this really happened, wouldn't we expect much older jerseys? Like the Kings in forum blue and gold? And the Sharks wearing, well, Seals jerseys?

I actually really like it alot, the expansion teams will eventually host one years down the road and if it were these 2 teams I really like the way Nevill incorporated both teams 90's jerseys with their current logo. However if it were the Ducks vs. Sharks I'd love to see the ducks wear their retro white Mighty Ducks jerseys and the Sharks wear their old teal from the early 90s including the old logo (or the cali seals jersey as Chris mentioned).

at the very least SJ should be wearing their original primary (funny since Nevill used the original shoulder patch) and LA with either the original crown or the 88 Gretzky chevron. Sharp jersey sets though, but the logos are just too contemporary if this is a Winter Classic theme.

The idea of a Winter Classic in California would be great!! The Sharks should be their original sweaters or the Golden Seals uniform. I agree with the Kings jersey, either their original sweater or the Gretzky era sweater. If they were to use the Ducks, its easy the Mighty Ducks obliviously!!

Jerseys would have to be original forum blue for kings and golden seals for sure! This would bring back two expansion 6 jerseys. Would love to see a winter classic at Dodger Stadium between Kings and Sharks. It would be so much fun and both teams have great fan bases!

Let's not forget that the first official outdoor game of the NHL was a preseason game between the Kings and the Rangers in the parking lot of the Caesar's Palace in Las Vegas in 1991. Which means, that a game could be played in Los Angeles, San Jose or even if you want Florida. Why not ? As for the jersey designs : they are nice, but I think they are not retro enough to be considered Winter Classics jerseys.

I would love to see the Sharks in a Winter Classic (albeit as the road team). I think they are prime for an original six era throwback style jersey. I think a hybrid of the Seals and Sharks designs would look great if done properly. Both jerseys here look cool as stand alones, but aren't "classic" enough.
