0193: No Escaping Black and Silver
Ever since the Lightning unveiled their new logo, I've seen countless concepts that attempt to "fix" it by adding back the black and silver in some way. Usually, the attempts are terrible. But this one by Justin Cox really made me take a second look. Granted, it's a little more cartoonish-looking than Tampa Bay's primary mark, but it could certainly work. What do you guys think of this set? As a Lightning fan, I like it a lot.

I'm a big fan of this "less-simplified" look. I'm not opposed to the new branding and identity that Tampa tried to achieve, but to me it felt like they became just another team that could easily be lost in the shuffle of NHL uniforms. I think the blue, black, sliver, and white is synonymous with the Lightning and this looks fantastic. I love the subtle Tampa Bay on the back hem, but don't forget the victory stripes!!
Thousand times better than their current "Frozen Flash" pseudo Maple Leafs get-up. The Lightning need to buy this from Justin right now. Well done!
I think the lightening's current look is the best it's ever been. I do think that Yzerman and co. copied TML and the wings to varying degree with regard to color and design, but all the previous stuff doesn't come close to the current threads.
Pick a new team to re,re,re,re,re,re-evaluate.
It's a good design, but I agree that it looks a bit cartoonish.

too cartoonish, current set looks better. They could however use a touch of silver.
It really is a fantastic concept. Definately the best new era Tampa Bay Lightning concept I've seen yet.
Very nice look. Improvement in just about every way over what they had and what they currently have.
Great design, much better and more distinct than what the Bolts currently wear.
Never a fan of the new design...did look like they bought some old Leaf jerseys and made do, although it has grown on me a little bit.
This is a great design, really like it, yes cartoonish compared to the current set up...but not over the top as to look out of place. I agree with a previosu post that they should buy this design...perfect blend from current to older uniforms.
That's just plain awesome. It is actually better than what they use now, and just as good as the BOLTS set that I love the most.
Well done! Bringing the black and silver back into the uniforms really adds dimension, and that's what uniforms of a team named "Lightning" needs! This look definitely sets TB apart from Toronto now. The striping is still classic-looking, which satisfies the goal that the marketing team originally set out to do. Hopefully the Lightning follow this concept closely to revamp their jerseys as they had mentioned black would be reintroduced after that band-aid attempt with the number outlines and such. Sharp and noble!
5 stars! This is just what TB needs.
It would have been a great option if they had chosen to modernize the old set rather than go in a new direction, but IMO, the current set really does look better. This is a vast improvement on the old lightning identity, but I really think they made the right call in just going with a new identity altogether. Now they have a 50's pulp sci fi thing going that I absolutely love.
It is simply perfect. 5 STARS!
