0336: Waddell's Winter Classic, Part 10

The brothers are back! Chance and Jake Waddell return this week with their fauxback Winter Classic series. For the past few months, the pair has been treating us to their interpretations of what all 30 NHL teams might wear to an outdoor game. Two weeks ago, reader Jesse was first to comment and asked to see Dallas and Minnesota. Here they are.

Be the first to comment if you want to select next week's set. Remember, we have just 10 teams left in this series.

Minnesota concept... (Paws at the screen) Want...

I'm not sure I'd get Koivu, but still... Want...

While I highly doubt that I'm the first to comment, in case I am - Philly & Calgary.

I love this jersey its near perfect, i'd just get rid of the yoke and replace the North Stars logo with one state logo (texas with D), on either the right or left shoulder.

  • i'd also simplify the numbers, can we see what these changes would look like?

Thanks for the kind words Taoiseach and Frank, and I like would like to see what your ideas look like as well Frank so I'll start working on that soon and see if Chris puts it up!

I like the Stars one as-is... a nice nod to the franchise's past, and a touch of what could have been (the North Stars were considering a black jersey in the early 80s). I wouldn't change a thing... except maybe use the Texas state patch for one of the shoulders.

The Wild one's nice... though I'd go with a Rangers cut for the shoulders rather than having the yoke dig into the sleeve stripes.

Star should have been green, and Minny, what a wasted opportunity. How do you not reference the NorthStars. Minny should represent their original team, not Dallas. Not impressed with this set as a WC. Minny's uni is awesome, just not as a throwback WC. Looking forward to C-Bus. Lots of hochey history to pull from.

Toronto vs Montréal: the NHL ONLY founding teams (yep! forget about original 6, it's original 4: Montréal Canadiens, Toronto Arenas, Montréal Wanderers, Ottawa Senators) , the only 2 teams that have played in EVERY SINGLE NHL SEASON, and the only 2 teams that have REALLY played official games outside... so the choice is obvious ain't it?
