0321: Black Brooklyn Freak Out

It might not be ideal but I couldn't help but share this one on a Freak Out Friday. Dawson Elliott came up with this Islanders jersey after he heard the team will be moving down the island to Brooklyn.

I never know how to vote for the Freak Outs... do I vote incredible if they're a good freak out or terrible if they're a good freak out.

I'm not usually one for black jerseys for teams that don't have black in their color palette, but with the whole Brooklyn Nets thing, this could work. Definitely needs to lose the blue piping though.

If you removed the blue piping and added white trim around all of the orange stripes, lettering, and numbering, I think this could actually look really nice. The Islanders will never really look best in black, but if they had to have a black jersey, I think Dawson's idea here could be a good foundation for a pretty nice jersey.

Rather uninspired.

The jersey is an interesting concept however I can't get myself past the blue piping. I think removing the piping and simplifying the jersey would go a long way. Also a white wordmark might make the jersey "pop" more.

Remove this quickly, before Charles Wang sees it and thinks it's a great idea.

it would make a nice speciality jersey... if they play pre-season games in Brooklyn before the actual move

Still better than the one they currently have.

My opinion...

I think if you lose the blue piping and change the blue stripes to a second orange you have a pretty awesome (though sorta Syracuse-ey) third.

I also love the fact that this concept didn't buy into the four-stripes feature that we always see.

Mets will be upset up in Queens if this sees the light of day... if I went to one of these games I'd keep expecting to hear Darryl Strawberry's name or something. What about switching the blue and black?
