0608: It's All in the Logo
I wouldn't say I'm in favor of the Maple Leafs changing their logo, but if they were to do it, Johnny Woods has some neat conceptual ideas. Look closely at the outline of the leaf and you'll be able to make out the letters "TML." Pretty clever.

The logo isn't bad...pretty creative. I'm not a huge fan of the sweaters. I think the current leafs logo is classic and shouldn't be tampered with. Good job though.

(credit where credit is due: the primary logo with the blue background isn't terrible looking, but that doesn't mean it should be done for this club.)

Those are absolutely brilliant! I could see something like that being used as a specialty jersey to be worn a few times a season. Great job, Johnny!
While I appreciate the intricacies of the artwork, the jersey is awful. The sublimation doesn't fit with an original 6 team rich in tradition. And the logo looks huge as a shoulder patch. However, the logo might make an interesting design for a t-shirt or hoodie.
I feel like this jersey would be perfect for something back in the 80's maybe. I kinda like it.
I would almost say with a potential different style and maybe not relying on the ML so much you could have a really neat old school concept. I guess i'm saying it reminds me of past canada jereseys. Pretty cool
My goal was just to do a new logo. No designer on this site is too adventurous with this team.
As for tradition, I did keep the two stripe jersey. That's about it.
But as for the jersey not fitting "an original 6 team rich in tradition" - what tradition? The 35-point Leaf logo won Stanley Cups. The 11-point Leaf logo was only around for four years but it was on the team that won the last Cup. The current logo? Rich in tradition? It started on the long sleeve stripe pajama tops and has never been seen in the finals. 40+ years of failure. I study the logo - each curve, each line, the font. Nothing jumps out as being great.
Someone - ANYONE - out there...please design a new logo for this team. The current one should not be a sacred cow.
What's with all the hate? I think it's a great concept. The logo is wonderfully thought out and it doesn't look bad on a jersey. It's different, and I like it. For a team that has stuck so hard to tradition, it wouldn't be horrible if they changed it up a little bit, at least for an alternate or something. Great job man.
