0364: Waddell's Winter Classic, Part 14

The Waddell brothers' Winter Classic series is nearly complete. After 26 teams, we're down to the final four. Today, I've opted to share their fauxback creations for the Buffalo Sabres and Phoenix Coyotes.

That leaves only the Boston Bruins and Philadelphia Flyers — the two teams that met up for the real outdoor NHL game in 2010. Check back next week to see the big finale of the Waddells' fun Winter Classic series.

While I appreciate the concept of this series, I am disappointed in the somewhat lack of creativity. I actually really like one or two of the jerseys (Jets), but for the most part, these guys have missed some great opportunities. I've never been much of a fan of the Coyotes, but they have had some of the most unique uniforms in the league, it's a shame that they were never utilized. Besides the colors and more or less stripes, there is very little differentiating between the Sabres and the Coyotes in this concept. I hate to draw this comparison, but they just look like a rehash of the same template, much like what Reebok did.

Buffalo is blue and yellow with just a little white outline on the numbers. If you put your thumb over the logo, it looks 100% Blues rather than Sabres.

I think for the Sabres, just go with the complete original jersey from the 70's - no modifications. I'm usually a fan of the vintage white, but for this one I think that since you already have yellow, vintage white is too similar. Go with one or the other.

Coyotes - nailed it right on the button. That is one fantastic looking jersey. Kudos.
