0429: Vintage Style Flames

Spencer Ford put together a neat set for the Calgary Flames. I particularly like the alternate logo with the silhouette of the Calgary Tower.

As a Flames fan, I think this is exactly what they need, uniform wise. I just am not a fan of the black logo on the home jerseys and I do not like the vertical stripes on the sides of either jersey. This looks great.

This is a nice simple and very perfect version of what the flames should look like. The red jersey could easily invert the white and yellow and still look great. Calgary's teams use way too much black whether it is the Dino's, Flames or Stampeder's. This is great!

Very good concept! Really like the addition of a small logo on the back of the neck. Nice that it is simple as well.
Color scheme is cool too, i think for my money i would like it in just a proper white.
I would expect most flames fans to get behind this of which i am not.

I'd prefer it with brighter colours, but the overall design's great. I'm surprised it's taken this long for someone to incorporate the Calgary Tower into a design.

I'm not really a fan of the vintage white. I think it's run its course in the league already. However, that secondary logo is awesome. I love seeing the Calgary Tower on there. Kind of reminds me of the Toronto Rock logo from years ago.

Excellent set! I think is one instance where 'vintage' white should most definitely be used. It's so much warmer than plain white which really adds to the warmth of the jerseys, being the Flames and all. Very nice work.

Yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes.

Beautiful to be sure. And I love the vintage white - especially here. But the problem with vintage white jerseys is that they need to wear a light helmet with the light jersey. And no one has ever worn a vintage white helmet.

Regardless though. These jerseys are great.

The secondary logo is brilliant, if there was plain white instead of vintage white, and brighter red and yellow, this set would be one of the best in the league. 4* stars.

Thanks a lot guys, glad to hear the positive feedback.

Typically there isn't much love for the Calgary Tower alternate, but it's nice to see some out there see it's potential. And Townes, you nailed it. I'm a sucker for off-white, I'll admit; but the Flames jersey was the only one where it felt 'right'. It has that burnt paper, Western, warmth feel which I loved.

And thanks a lot Chris for putting this up. As a reader since Icethetics since it's inception (or close to anyway) I'm very honoured!

Does the alternate logo encourage arson?

I really like the alternate logo a lot. It's simple and classis but really visually appealing. I wish the Flames would move away from having the black in their color scheme. Red, gold, and white are a great combination, and they really don't need to use black at all. I would hope that they see this and realize that.
