0430: Minnesota's Hockey Heritage

We've seen North Stars-inspired Wild concepts before, but this one is pretty sharp. Rhett Ambrose has mixed together Minnesota's current NHL franchise with its former one and come up with a nice look. Future Winter Classic even?

Why is the ''E'' in the shoulder logo silver ? Am I missing something ??

Get rid of all traces of black and it'd be pretty good!

Chris, hopefully you can answer this question. I'm not really sure that the Minnesota Wild would be able to use anything North Stars-related in a Winter Classic or as a throwback uniform. If I'm not mistaken, wouldn't the Dallas Stars franchise still own the trademarks/copyrights on the North Stars name/logo/uniforms? Granted, since the Penguins and Senators jerseys are exactly the same, aside from the colors (not including the name/number fonts), that might not be too huge of an issue as far as jerseys go. But would it be fair to say that for legal reasons the Wild wouldn't be able to use any part of the North Stars' identity?

TO KEVIN Y: I don't know is the Wild would be able to use anything North Stars related or not, but not because of the Dallas Stars. The NHL owns all rights to logos, team names, and respective colors to teams past and present. It would come down to the NHL letting Minnesota use the identity.

For the previously mentioned reason, the Jets were allowed to be the Jets. This is also why the Anaheim Ducks use the old logo on their currant alternate uniforms.

The black ruins it for me.

So simple, it's beautiful. Well done.

TYLER J: In the case of the Ducks, well obviously it's the same franchise. I assume the Samuelis retained all the rights to the old uniforms/logos/etc. from when they purchased the team from Disney in 2006. Now you do make a good point with the Jets/Coyotes. The difference here would be the fact that the team still uses the "Stars" nickname, and in fact uses a logo that was created when the team was still known as the North Stars (remember they changed their uniform their last season to the black/white jersey that they used when they moved to Dallas originally). That point could all be moot, however, considering the Stars are rumored to be changing their logo before next season anyway. But it might be too risky for the Wild to do anything for all those legal reasons, unless they get direct approval from the NHL (and possibly from the Dallas Stars and Tom Gaglardi), first.

For some reason, when I look at these jerseys I think of Waste Management. I feel MN really dropped the ball when they didn't bring back the Fighting Saints as their name and logos

In my perfect world I would like Dallas to change its name to spurs outlaws or renegades and give minnesota the north stars name again but it will not happen ever

Can you get the W printed on a shirt and then sell it to me?
