0523: Fixing the Canucks

The Vancouver Canucks' identity crisis has been well-documented. Four different logos in 40 years and probably more to come. However, they already have in their arsenal all they need to perfect their look, as Justin Wiltron shows us. Then they could just leave it alone for the next half-century.

Canucks don't have an identity crisis... canucks are one of the few teams that you can actually clearly see exactly what era and what players were big at the time based on the jersey. Maybe it hasn't been as Icon/staying the same as a good number of teams. But i have come to realization this is something that is actually rather cool.
Original stick and rink. Expansion and Orland Kurtenbach era
Original yellow and orange V jerseys; Stan Smyl
Skate logo 90's style; Stanley cup final team with Linden and Bure
Orca; West coast express era
Blue Orca and stick and rink logos; Sedin era

I really don't mind this one bit now. It proudly states what history and what was going on at the time.
To me its just a different way of looking at it that actually makes a bit of cool sense.
roast me if you want.

Also, this V logo doesn't do it for me for a primary, change it with the shoulder'ed johny canuck logo and they would look quite sharp. love the crisp white and dark blue with the green accent.
3rd is interesting.

As someone who hates the Canucks, I have to say that I don't mind their current ones too much. They do need to get rid of the stupid Vancouver wordmark above the logo though, and maybe come out with an alternate that isn't as close to their homes as they are now.

It's another decent proposal for the Canucks , nothing spectacular - just conservative, as I've seen too many times over at other hockey related blogs. I'm not sold on that white outline of the yoke on a home and alternate jerseys respectively plus on a choice of grey stripes on an alternate. Perhaps, green yoke on a home jersey would've work better. Somehow a green primary color that is on an alternate asking to be on a home jersey for Vancouver? Also, a request to an editor - Chris, would you, please, gives us viewers a chance to see concepts in a larger scale? I have a tough time to see what's that shoulder patch on home and away - my wild guess is that could be a skating Johnny?

Personally, I think their current jerseys are great! However, they need to get rid of the orca and put the stick in rink on all jerseys. The bright blue is great. I am not a fan of this navy blue colour.

Now that I'll be seeing much more of the Canucks when they play my Kings, I'd be nice to see them in something like this and ditch the Shamu logo. Great set, although I think the shoulder and chest logos should be swapped.

Agreed, Ryan M. The current third should be the primary, with the Orca replacing one of the Johnny Canuck V shoulder patches.

Their third should rotate every couple of seasons through throwbacks of their extensive and varied history.

There is so much to draw on: Millionaires, Original stick in rink (I love those V arm stripes), gold V sans logo, V with logo, Spaghetti plate, And the original orca.

Just please no fades.

I actually really like the Orca on their current uniform. The stick and the logo's above are not really that interesting IMO. As a third jersey I would like to see the Orca in the colors of the 1994 Canucks that lost to the Rangers in the Cup. That would look cool.

I think the bottom of the blue socks should be blue. Dark socks should always be dark on top and bottom.

Not much of a fan. As a canucks fan I prefer the original 70s and current set

These are nice concepts. Although I like the Johnny Canuck V, I much prefer the full-body Johnny as the primary instead. If the Penguins can have a skating penguin, then a skating lumberjack makes more sense for the Canucks. I am fine with either royal or navy blue, just as long as the navy isn't too dark.
The other beefs with the Canucks' current look besides the constipated orca and the 'VANCOUVER' word-mark is the Agency font and the lack of green accents. The team needs to revert back to the traditional and legible block font and add some green trimming around the font and to the collar.

I agree with Heisenberg. You can't beat the 70's and the current uniforms

I never did get the orca logo. They're the Canucks, not the Orcas. Why does the team logo have nothing to do with the team, and instead put the ownership first.

I wouldn't mind seeing the current Canucks' away white to have a blue shoulder yoke; that was a nice design choice.
I'm also in the camp that the negative space white V on the arms was a delightful plan, and wish they would reintroduce it.
Living in downtown Vancouver, I see the blue jerseys on approx 4 out of 5 game goers. I used to dislike the Vancouver wordmark, but I think if you replaced the Orca with Johnny C beneath it, it might look pretty sharp!
I don't believe they need to enhance the green any more than they already have; it's a nice complimentary colour, but I don't think it suits an entire jersey.
