0524: Buffalo No-Go

We end the week where it began: Buffalo. This concept by Bryan Dyck sort of walks the line in terms of Freak Out Fridays, though. It's not a bad design and strictly speaking it's not even that far into outer space. But the number on the chest and the oversimplified crest are not quite my cup of tea. Interesting idea, but I don't think it should be NHL-bound.

How many numbers do we need on a jersey these days? I don't mind the idea of the simplified crest. The numbers are just dumb.
I am normally not much of a fan of the numbers on the jersey front, but I like this one. Very creative.
The crest/number concept might work on the sleeves
This looks great. Much cleaner than the current home jersey
I feel like I'm a minority here, but I think with a more cohesive striping pattern this could be one good looking jersey!
Just drop the chest number and switch out the crests (shoulder to chest) and it is a great jersey.
Looks like a 1940-50s style. Really not a fan of navy nor white numbers. Royal blue with gold numbers.
When I was coming up with this one..I tried 3-4 different things with the swords. I'm a fussy Sabers fan and I would rock this. I've never been huge on front numbers but I think this can pull it off
This is one of those weird scenarios where I feel like this is a good collegiate design (I felt that way about the Stars' jersey when it first came out, too), I don't think it's a great NHL design. I think if Vanderbilt had a hockey team and this was their sweater, it would be awesome - but not for the Buffalo Sabres.
Actually that crest is really good, if you look at it as a military calvary insignia. I just don't think it would work with each player having a different number on their chest. As said, maybe if this was on the sleeve, with the players number framed by the crossed sabres, it would be really killer.
Replace the number with the buffalo between the swords but don't enclose them in the logo's circle.
I personally think the "goat head" jersey was the best. Black, red, and white.... but I know the organization wants the stay with the blue and gold.... so can any one do the "goat head" jersey and the third jersey (the red one from early 2000's) in the modern blue and gold colors. ?
