0606: The Sabres by Hand

Morgo Uxbridge is back with another hand-drawn concept, this time for the Buffalo Sabres. Could there be any design more appropriate for this team?

I'd eliminate the gray piping. There's no need for it. Other than that, this is a really sweet set. This should be their new third, not the practice jersery POS they plan on using.
love everything about this except for that gray thing. that is a joke right? (wait, i can see reebok trying to do something like that. hope they don't try using that idea.)
reebok + dreadlocks = reelocks?
There are parts of this I like and parts I don't. The simplified striping is very nice (although I would prefer to see the 6-stripe pattern on the socks). The shoulder patches are good too - I don't really understand the Sabres prior need to use the same logo on the front and shoulders of the shirt. But I would lose those silver things from the sides of the jersey. There really wasn't much from the Buffaslug area worth saving. A smaller logo on the pants would be better, if you feel the need one at all. And enough with the lace-up necks already.
I'm not a huge fan of the gray stripy things, but other than that I like the look.
I think Buffalo should stick to blue and yellow....the gray is getting out of hand with this team (like the new 3rds).
The crossed swords aren't bad at all...I like the look.
Great logo but the grey streak going down along the sides makes my 4/5 stars go to 3/5 stars
I've never liked the grey piping on the Sabres jerseys- this concept included. What I do like, however, is the alternate logo used as the crest. Buffalo is currently the only NHL team with the exact same crest on all three of their uniforms. Variety is good. As much as I hate Buffalo's new third jersey, if they had changed things up with the crest, it would be a bit better. Back to this concept, great work! Slightly smaller logos and a lack of piping would make this a great third jersey in the NHL. Definitely an upgrade on the new thirds in Buffalo. Well done.

Yeah. How about a buffalo?
I don't know, the city has the same name as a big, mean, tough animal. They should use it. The last two logos (Satanic Goat Head and Buffaslug) failed because they did not use any sabres in the primary logo. Now this.
The current logo is near perfect - a buffalo and sabres.
I love the striping for both jerseys, especially the triple gold on the dark! I think that if you swapped out the B-patches for the primary logo (and lose the grey), you've got a perfect jersey! Well done!
Everyone is dead wrong on this. Without the grey, this is an incredibly boring and uncreative set. And those even have a basis in Sabres history! Everybody needs to get over the retro obsession and allow a little creativity into designs.
This is a great set. I actually don't mind the grey stripes as at least that colour is featured in the logo, however I feel a design without those stripes would be a lot more crowd pleasing. Overall I love it, love the logo set (maybe sneak a classic buffalo mark on the pants) and also feel that unlike most teams (San Jose) the lace up collar is warranted, because Buffalo actually did use this collat style on their original set.
Sorry @simon - totally respect your stance on this one, but I have to disagree. I have always disliked Buffalo teams for making that animal their logo. If you wanted to be the Buffalo Buffaloes, then name them that, but if you are the Sabres, then your logo should be a sabre. This uniform is only okay because of the grey wiggle stripe, but I think it is 100% dead on for main crest and shoulder logos. Well done.
I agree with Scott. It would be good without the silver stripes, but in my opinion they greatly improve the design. The stripes, while many may not like that time period of their branding, have been present before. I think it makes the jersey stronger because otherwise the jersey would fall into the category of the now-popular squared-off shoulder yolk. Only thing I'd change is the logo on the pants to the classic primary logo. If this actually was what they went with, I would buy the white one in a heart beat.
I appreciate the re-incorporation of the "Buffa-Slug" era shoulder logos, I think this jersey really blends the ages of Buffalo jerseys as the main logo on the chest resembles an alternate from 2000-2006. I would too eliminate the wavy pipping along the side of the jersey, I feel that would be too distracting, and already having done a similar silver idea with the Buffa-Slug jerseys sets, let's move on past those ugly days. The shoulder logo is the one item I would have recycled in another jersey though, so ironically you took what I did like! Along with the classic blue and gold set of colors and stripes from the 40th Aniiversary alternates, I think you summed up what we have liked about past Sabres logos and jerseys. I love the new Captain and Alternate mark as well, I wonder if you would use those or the classic set aside marks for those. Very interesting, makes me think and especially incredible hand-done! Congrats!
5-Stars easily!
Let's Go Buffalo!
