0355: Sabres or Swords?

This one is sort of a mix of old and new. Matt Marczel says he "was inspired by the old Cinncinati Swords of the AHL during the '70s" for this concept. Their classic look would still work today. But then so would Buffalo's original jerseys from the 1970s. If only they could lose all the extraneous silver piping and fix the blue.
For reference, here's a look at the old Swords jersey.

That blue sweater could make a very nice third jersey! I'm probably in the minority, but I really like the navy and the thin silver accents that runs up the sides of the Sabres current set. If they would ever drop the front numbers and the gray armpits, then it would probably be the best jersey in the league imho.
This is wicked awesome! I have always loved the Sabres' blue and gold. But this makes it even better!
These are sharp, but I agree that the original early Sabres jerseys are still the best. In fact, if you visit the web site for the Buffalo Jr. Sabres who play in the Ontario Jr. Hockey League OJHL - you'll see that the Jr. Team has got it right with their uniforms. Much sharper look that the big club's jerseys with the grey in there and the arm pit "stains."
I like the jersey but I think it would be a better Blues jersey than a Sabres jersey. I'm a Sabres fan and I wish they would lose all the extraneous silver piping and fix the blue to the royal instead of the navy

AMEN!!
the design is sharp but the colours work better with St Louis Blues... less white would work better keeping with the Sabres look
I think that this is fantastic! A very sharp, timeless look. I would buy this in a heartbeat (and I'm not even a Sabres fan!).
I think this one gets it right. A big thumbs up from me!
Maybe if the shoulder yokes were yellow instead of white on the blue I could see it more as a Sabres concept... I dunno why the jersey leaps out to me as a St. Louis Blues. I do like the idea of connecting to the Sabres past AHL affiliate, (named after the big club no less!) especially when so few Sabres fans recognize the founding of the farm team by the Knox brothers when the big club was founded.
As to the grey, I think if you lose the "pit-stains" on the Sabres jersey and the piping in the whole NHL you'd have much better sweaters. Why do teams insist on the ugly piping anyway?
