0357: Waddell's Winter Classic, Part 13
Saturday · Feb 9 · 2013 | 9:00 AM PST 10 Comments
We're coming down to the end of the Waddell brothers' long-running concept series. This week we get the Capitals and Sharks, as requested by Bastian last weekend.
Normally, I let you guys pick the next pair of teams. But since we're down to just four remaining, I'm going to take the reins in the home stretch. Check back next Saturday to see which two teams will be next! (By the way, I'm betting there will be someone who doesn't read this and posts their request anyway. Let's see if I'm right.)

The Caps' looks like an ugly Christmas sweater and the Sharks' looks like it belongs on the Miami Dolphins.
These could have been better
I like the Seals homage, though the shoulder loops look a little wonky to me. The way they're rendered here would imply they come to a point over the sleeve numbers.
The star "stripes" on the sleeves and socks of the Caps concept work, but the zigzagging stars along the chest/back area seem to me to be a bit much.
Never have been a fan of writing on the front as opposed to a logo, so I'm not a big fan of the Caps jersey, but the idea for the Sharks' is there and I quite like it.
Not a huge fan of these but I love the creativity of the Sharks jersey. I agree with Rob S the Seals homage is great. On another note, if this was a mathcup I would find it a little odd that one team would have vintage pants and the other wouldnt.
Big fan of the Capitals jersey. Agree that the stars across the chest could be changed, but with some minor adjustments this jersey could be spectacular. Not really a fan of lettering as a logo but it definitely works here. The Sharks concept could use some tweaking as well, and I too and confused by the shoulder loops.
Vancouver and Calgary
Da Seals! I love it, and it would even be somewhat correct, since the mess that was the Seals/Stars merge and the Sharks being split out of the Stars actually legitimately links the franchises.
I beleive the Caps have always had a letter front except for the diving eagle period.
My first reaction to the Caps sweater was HOLY CRAP THAT LOOKS GOOD... Second reaction was that it was a bit busy, especially with the offset double rows of stars on the body. Third reaction was that the C/A patch gets lost in the striping.
I can see how someone might think of it as an ugly christmas sweater, but I still think the overall concept is a success. Maybe a couple tweaks (less red/white striping, single row of stars, offset colors for C/A) might tune it up a bit. I like it.
Not a fan of the Sharks, though. The dark teal and arched shoulder stripes just rub me the wrong way.
