0465: Flashing the Badge
Tuesday · May 28 · 2013 | 9:00 AM PDT 4 Comments
We've got a theme-within-a-theme every day this week as we continue with the Dallas Stars concepts. Today, our artists look at rebranding the team with a old west sheriff motif — badges all around. First up is Thierry Dick's take, which incorporates the badge for the captains' letters.
Next, Tom Fulery (I'm sure that's his real name) went with something a bit more shiny.
And lastly, Stephen Griesmer presents a design that isn't overtly sheriff-y, but definitely has that feel about it. He's created a full set of jerseys that includes a rather unique alternate option.

theirry's jersey is the best*, but the best logo is stephen's. not the one on the jersey, but the shoulder patch. the circle and star w/ texas. that would be much better than the- alleged- leak from a couple days ago.
*+1 for thierry's captain's patches.
More Dallas lol
I'm 50/50 on Thierry's design. I quite like the colours (albeit that they are very similar to present Dallas) and certainly like the wordmark and font for letters and numbers but I dislike the sherrif's badge.
Tom's sheriff's badge is better but I'm not a great fan of anything else there.
Stephen's first jersey very good ALTHOUGH I don't really like the primary logo. I think the secondary/shoulder is excellent though. Did you consider that for primary? Colours/fonts are great too. Not a fan of your second jersey though!
My circle-logo i used on the shoulders was originally the primary, and admittedly received more design attention than the S logo. What i had trouble with is getting a border stroke on it that didn't throw it off in my eyes, and i was trying to stray away from the circular logo trend.
My 3rd jersey was specifically meant to be as unexpected and nearly unrealistic as possible. I wanted something different, something fun. And i thought the idea of the Texas badge lent itself well to a soccer-jersey style logo presentation and some front numbers
