0272: Long Island Freak Out
Ross Taylor is back on Freak Out Friday. Today he's looking at the Islanders and what might happen if they followed their new fellow tenants at the Barclays Center and changed up their color scheme. You'll notice a bit of a callback to this design from back in March.

Why do Islander designs insist on including the 4 stripes for their 4 Stanley Cups?
I'd think they'd need to go with this color scheme. Or something other than the one they have now. Otherwise the Nets are black and white and the islanders will look like the knicks.
I LOVE IT !!! Great idea for a third jersey, the nod to the past and the Nets colors is awesome !
I actually love this. When I read on Twitter that todays concept was a Nets inspired one, I was very skeptical. I still do think that the Logo is a minor league/AHL looking design, but this is a pretty great concept.
i know it's freak out friday but i don't like this one at all.
there's nothing inspired at all about this design. it looks a lot like the kings' home sweaters which i find to be the blandest jerseys in the league. i actually think this design could be more compelling if it got rid of the grey and went strictly black and white.
and why do this coloring at all? it has nothing to do with the logo or the team. i much prefer the march edition. clearly taylor has talent but this one misses the mark completely.
I like the idea of black, for sure, I think it's a given that it will happen! Simple and effective; it may not be everybody's cup of tea, but it's being talked about, and for the Islanders, that's encouragement. Keep it up!
@bickleton: The reasoning for the colours should be clear. The Brooklyn Nets wear black, grey and white. The NY Islanders are moving to Brooklyn. That's the point of this concept. I think he hit the mark completely considering its a freak out friday. Friday concepts are supposed to be a little "different".
And here I thought it was impossible to ever make that fisherman logo look good. Boy, was I wrong! Not to mention, this concept kicks the crap out of their current black thirds (not that it would be hard to). I say you just need to add some blue and orange accents, and then you may very well have a winner, here!
