0566: Pennsylvania Freak Out

I don't even want to explain why this 2015 Winter Classic concept by John Elbertson belongs on a Freak Out Friday. It's more fun if you look at it a minute and realize on your own.

Those helmets look rather familiar to a certain netminders helmet in the original Heritage Classic. Enough to make anyone freak out they are.

It looks nice, but I'm sure the Philadelphia fans would boo those jerseys. Keep in mind they also have been known to boo Santa Claus.

But this concept is fun - if only the fans of the two cities would agree to it...

Certainly not becoming of a Freak-out. These are sweet and would love to see these guys battle in an outdoor game. Why it hasn't happened yet is beyond me.

I think these are really good and hilarious at the same time. I'd personally troll each fan base a little more (I'm a Flyers fan) by putting Crosby on the Flyers jersey and Giroux on the Pens jersey; however, I really like that the designer used Tocchet (although he could have also used Reechi or Jagr).

This Freakout Friday definitely freaked me out in a good way. These are surprisingly good. Even the Vegas/Puke gold is surprisingly bearable on that design and it actually doesn't look too, too bad. The Sabres should take some notes. XD

A really nice idea. I like the concept of switching jersey designs with color schemes, and this one works pretty well. Although it's not a realistic idea, at least I wouldn't think, I'd definitely wear one of those jerseys.

Flyers/Pens at Beaver stadium would be amazing but who would be the home team?

Also... If you actually look into why EAGLES fans booed and threw snowballs at Santa Claus it would make a lot more sense. I'm a Philly fan until I die and I'm so tired of being condemned for something my grandfathers did years and years ago.

Flyers jersey on the Pens template looks fine, but that Pens jersey on the Flyer template physically hurts to see. Well played.

AWESOME! I love the switchover of layouts! The number font needs tweaking for each, but as a Flyers fan, I'd be willing to buy both sweaters for a Winter Classic mashup concept! Forget that the two teams are bitter rivals and would never go for it, it works to my eye, and is fun as heck.

I remember reading awhile back on Broad Street Hockey that Philadelphia is only a little bit closer to Penn State than Pittsburgh, so the Flyers would be the home team.

Regarding your second point, I agree 100%; however, I highly doubt us knowledgeable Philadelphia sports fans will ever shake that stigmatism. It's quite unfortunate.
