0686: Freak Out '80s Style

Tampa/Vancouver Week wraps up with a Vancity freak out. Bryan Dyck is merging the Canucks' 1980s color palette with their new Johnny Canuck logo. It's pretty clever but I'm not sure I'd want to see it anywhere outside the Concepts page. (Note the yellow socks!)
See a pattern forming here? Todd Varga added the 1980s palette to the stick-in-rink logo. Again, makes for a neat jersey set, but probably not one we'd want to see on the ice anytime soon.
Newcomer Dallas Kirkpatrick is just scaring me now.
And finally, I was saving this one. Remember yesterday's Johnny Canuck set from John Elbertson? He included this yellow one as well but it fit so much better with today's theme.

Bryan Dyck's seem to me to have too much going on. Even eliminating the circle around the logo on the front might clean it up a bit and make them better.
I like Todd Varga's idea. It gives it a traditional striping along with the bold colour scheme.
I'd like to see the orange on Dallas Kirkpatrick's set replaced with red. There is something about the orange and yellow that is off-putting.
John Elbertson's is the best of the bunch. It would be a better third than the one posted in yesterday's set of concepts, although I see why it was left for today.
I love John's concept. I wish the Canucks would ditch blue/green.
I forgot I even did that one lol. I put the circle around the logo as a tribute to the skate in the triangle logo, kind of bringing all generations of Vancouver together in one logo.
John's yellow concept takes the cake, hands down. THAT is what the Canucks' jersey should have looked like back in '78 when the first uniform change was made. With Johnny Canuck, the overall design, and greater talent on that '82 team to upset the Islanders, that jersey would be right up there among the best in sports.
Bryan's rendition of the captaincy path deserves some special attention, too. Well played, my friend!
