0127: Go Team Canada!

The 2014 Winter Olympics are still two years away, but Brendan Anderson is already getting started on jersey ideas for Team Canada. It's not a huge departure from what we usually see, but it is a solid design.

0126: Music Meets Hockey

Wrapping up No-Hockey Week is Dylan Alexander's tribute to MCA and the Beastie Boys. I think at this point we can safely say this feature has jumped the shark. Tomorrow we get back to actual hockey concepts... every day.

0125: Video Games Meet Hockey

I'm not at all what you'd call a hardcore gamer, but when it comes to the Super Mario franchise, I can't get enough. That's why this is my favorite weekend of the year. Not only has Brian Brideau designed a Super Mario-inspired hockey sweater, but Mario Marathon 5 starts today!

Mario Marathon is an annual event in which a group of people in Indiana go nuts, playing Super Mario games nonstop while raising money for a charity that helps sick kids. They present a live stream of the marathon so everyone can watch their progress. It usually goes on for several days and always brings in an impressive amount of cash. I've watched bits and pieces of the marathon every year since they started, so I wanted to get in a plug.

While we're on the subject of video games, Dylan Alexander created this Pac Man hockey sweater which I think is pretty fantastic. Only thing it's missing is a Ms. Pac Man. No-Hockey Week wraps up tomorrow. Can you guess what the topic will be?

By the way, the Freak Out Friday feature returns next Friday. (Though if you think about it, Super Mario and Pac Man hockey jerseys are a bit freaky.)

0124: Superheroes Meet Hockey

It's not a hockey team. It's not even a sports team. It's Iron Man! Day 4 of No-Hockey Week brings us a series of sweaters that might be worn by the comic book superheroes we're all fascinated by. Jonathan Tweedle has designed jerseys based on the a couple of Avengers costumes.

Along with Iron Man, Jonathan provides a sweater for Captain America. Both are cool enough that I could see a minor league team doing a one-off special jersey night with something similar. We already Star Wars jerseys at least once a season.

It's not the National Hockey League, but a whole different kind of league. Nevill Carney designed sweaters for Justice League members Green Lantern, Batman, Superman, Robin and even the Flash (I'm predicting all the Lightning-related jokes you could possibly make and not finding any of them amusing). I particularly like the Batman jersey based on the costume from the '60s TV series.

There are still plenty more non-hockey hockey concepts to come this week.

0123: Australian Football Meets Hockey

As promised, No-Hockey Week continues today with the sport of football. But it isn't the American gridiron these teams play on. Duncan Lyle has designed hockey jerseys for members of the Australian football league. Above, it's the Geelong Cats, and below, the Fremantle Dockers.

You'll note Duncan has included the teams' existing uniforms to compare to his hockey sweaters. By the way, there's more where this came from. Duncan actually designed jerseys for nine AFL teams and if you guys are interested in seeing the rest, I'd be happy to get them on the site in the future.

0122: Supersonics Meet Hockey

Finally back from my long vacation, though with the daily updates during my absence, it's not like you would've really known I was away. It's Day 2 of No Hockey Week and after a few baseball-inspired hockey uniforms yesterday, the NBA is the focus this time around.

Tonight, the Oklahoma City Thunder are hoping to tie up their championship playoff series with the Miami Heat, much to the dismay of Seattle basketball fans who are missing their Supersonics right about now. Maybe these Sonics concepts by Matt Harris and Thomas Gentile will help with that pain.

Tomorrow, the subject will be football... but not the kind you're thinking.

0121: Baseball Meets Hockey

The Stanley Cup has been lifted and the 2012 Entry Draft is around the corner. Anyone else want a short break from hockey. Trying something new this week. Of course, Icethetics is still a hockey-driven site, so while all of the concepts will be hockey jerseys, none will be for actual hockey teams. Today's theme is baseball!

We start with Chance Waddell who put together a home, road and alternate uniform for the MLB's St. Louis Cardinals. But that's not all...

Todd Varga has given a similar treatment to the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim. Ridiculous name. What do you think? Should these guys give hockey a try? We've obviously got great uniforms for them.
