0707: New Third Jersey

It might be a stretch to post this one by Steve Maurer a Freak Out Friday, but I think I'm bothered by the use of Rangers' style text on a Devils jersey. But I do like the horns on the sleeves. Either way, it's a bit freaky. Is it just me?

0699: Feelin' Retro in Jersey

If the New Jersey Devils are ever tapped for a Winter Classic, will they just wear the standard red and green? Or could they pull a Rangers/Flyers and go faux retro? If it's the latter, Matt Marczel may have hit the nail on the head.

0694: NYC Stadium Showdown

With the Winter Classic behind us, the NHL Stadium Series is just around the corner. Check out these Rangers and Devils jerseys from Nick Burton. Would they make for a better looking outdoor game than the real jerseys?

0666: Devilish History

If we couldn't get #666 to fall on a Freak Out Friday, I'd say an Outdoor Saturday is the next best thing. I'm pretty sure New Jersey won't surprise us with a new jersey for their 2014 Stadium Series game, but what about beyond? Daniel Stavina was inspired by an old hockey jersey on display at the Prudential Center.

This sweater was worn by an Eastern Hockey League team named the Jersey Devils between 1964 and 1973. Apart from the name, the team has no connection to the NHL franchise, but Daniel designed a jersey for use by the NHL's Devils in another Stadium Series or Winter Classic game by adapting the logo and incorporating the green used when the team arrived in New Jersey in 1982.

What do you think?

0656: Yankee Stadium Sketches I

It's Stadium Series Week on the Concepts page and Dylan Wonka gets us over the hump with three jerseys for the Yankee Stadium games. His take on the Rangers is unique but likely not accurate. The team will wear white with NEW YORK across the chest. Still, it's a clever use of an element of the Rangers' shield logo.

Next up is an Islanders proposal. I'm intrigued by the use of black striping on the primarily blue and orange sweater. But I have a feeling Long Island fans wouldn't warm to it.

And lastly, we have the Devils. So far we've been hearing the Devils will go with a throwback unlike the rest of the participating teams. However, they'll be wearing red instead of white. Look for them to sport the red and green number they've worn on St. Patrick's Day in recent years.

Meantime, what do you think of Dylan's designs? Any you'd like to see in action at some point?

0651: Devil of a Freak Out

Freak Out Friday isn't about bad design — just stuff that's a little out there. I think it'll be a long time before we see a permanent third jersey for the New Jersey Devils. But when we do, Dan Capostagno imagines it without a shred of white. Always a fascinating choice to me.

0631: Devils' Stadium Jersey Done

Brandon Holmes has designed the New Jersey Devils' Stadium Series jersey, definitively. I don't think I need to see anything else. You?
