I never liked the black Reebok Edge jerseys the Flyers started wearing in 2007. But I almost always like anything Nick Burton submits. So this was tricky. A black Flyers jersey from Nick. Somehow, though, I like this one. It's all in the striping, of course. But it's a sharp look. Third jersey, anyone?

Truthfully, it may work just as well outside the context of the outdoor event — just the regular season series between the two franchises. Neat logos either way.

Prior to the 2012 NHL Winter Classic between the Flyers and Rangers — August 2011 to be more precise — Simon Stenstrom submitted this concept for the big outdoor matchup. Like me, Simons's a bit fan of the Lady Liberty logo — which I recently learned is still in use on the team's road practice jerseys, apparently. He also liked the Quakers concept that floated around a lot that year but preferred not to alter the Flyers' logo too much. It's a pretty solid look and just the kind of thing we like to see on a Winter Classic Weekend.
You know this is coming. The NHL and NBC love the Pennsylvania teams, so it's only a matter of time before they meet up in the Winter Classic. And when they do, Nick Burton has a neat pair of jersey designs for them to wear.
