0540: Metropolitan Green III

Our Seattle Sunday series seems to be going quite well. So I'll keep it going as long as I have content to fill it. As we all wait for what is surely to be the next city to join the NHL, Bryan Dyck has a different take from the last two weeks. It's a sharp and colorful set that — despite a similar color scheme — is still miles away from Seattle's neighbor to the north in Vancouver. I might vote for a little more distinctive crest, but the colors are spot on. (And we still need a new name.)

0533: Metropolitan Green II

I'll be honest, I don't know if the new Seattle Sunday series was a hit or not last week because I wrote and scheduled this post three weeks ago. And I've been on vacation during that time so I probably haven't had time to make any edits. So how about a second take on the green Seattle Metropolitans idea? Andrew Krause put together a really clean look. I'm still not a fan of the name, but I could get behind any team that looked this sharp.

0526: Metropolitan Green

Ever since the NHL announced the Metropolitan Division last week, I've been hearing non-stop about how it's a slap in the face to Seattle hockey fans. These people must be under the impression we want our team to be named the Metropolitans, after the first American-based team to win the Stanley Cup. I can only speak for myself but I seriously hope that doesn't happen.

That said, in searching for a new theme for Sundays and noticing how many Seattle concepts sit in my inbox, it became clear: Seattle Sundays. At least for a little while. Dylan Wonka is up first. I think he has a fantastic design, despite using the Metropolitans moniker. The nice thing about his logos and jerseys is that the name can easily be swapped out for something better.

Check back next Sunday for another Seattle concept. And if you've got an idea, feel free to pass it along!

0367: Reviving the Metropolitans

Here's a fun one. We continue our theme this week of reviving old hockey franchises. The PCHA's Seattle Metropolitans have the distinction of being the first American hockey team to win the Stanley Cup. So why has it been nearly a century and the Jet City is still without an NHL franchise? Justin Nahhas puts forth this uniform for the day pro hockey finally returns to Seattle.

By the way, fun fact: The first post of the Concepts page relaunch was Feb. 19, 2012 — and featured Ryan Haslett's Seattle Metros. Coincidence? Of course not.

0075: Vintage Seattle

Vintage Week wraps up today as Micah Loyed gives us Seattleites something to think about. He's resurrected the Seattle Metropolitans. Here's how he describes the design: "The main crest has a nod to the Supersonics but incorporating 'Seattle' in a manor that is a tad more legible than the beloved 'Seattle on the path of the S' design."

But wait, there's more...

This one is just a bonus. Micah also put together another Emerald City-inspired concept for us. Thoughts on the Seattle Warbirds?

0026: Green-a-thon, Part IV

Green-a-thon Week is winding down, but in a way, it's just getting started. Since the announcement of a plan to build an arena in Seattle, buzz has been building about the possibility of the NHL to land in the Emerald City. Hm, Emerald City. Seems like the perfect city for a team decked out in green. Keith Welton presents the Seattle Totems — in green! While I may not be totally sold on the logo itself, I'm definitely behind the concept.

0001: The Seattle Metros

Today, the Concepts page is relaunching with a new post every day! As promised, we're starting with Seattle — which has been in the news this week after announcing plans for a proposed hockey arena. With the possibility that the Phoenix Coyotes could relocate to Washington state, Ryan Haslett tried his hand a potential rebranding. He's brought back the name of the city's original team — the Seattle Metropolitans and combined a couple of well known logos to create one for his new team.
