0015: Christmas Classic

Welcome to the other half of our Winter Classic Weekend. This one from Alex Valvo poses an interesting notion. What if the Maple Leafs opted for uniforms styled after the Toronto St. Pats? That would probably give us a holiday-themed Winter Classic just a week removed from Christmas Day. But given that Toronto's colors are blue and white these days, I'm not sure it's a viable option — though this very uniform was worn for a game back in 2002.

For the other part of this set, Alex gives us another throwback. Prior to the 1980s, the Winged Wheel was never exactly centered on Detroit's sweaters. In fact, the middle of the wheel part of the logo was used as the center.

0014: Vintage White Classic

It's another Winter Classic Weekend and today is all about the vintage white, as you can see in Kevin Garrigan's proposal. This one isn't dissimilar from the one posted last Sunday in that its based on uniforms that are nearly a century old. However, Kevin is trying to show the age by using "vintage white." He's also gone with a light jersey for the home team (Detroit) and a dark one for the road club (Toronto).

0013: Long Island Freak Out

It's Friday and that means two things. First, the weekend is nearly here. And second, Icethetics has concept art that could induce convulsions. Think the New York Islanders' black third jersey is bad? Andrew Facini shows us how much worse it could've been. That's right, how would you like a map of Long Island running the length of your left arm instead?

0012: Buffalo's Third Jersey Inversion

Word on the street is the Buffalo Sabres' royal blue third jersey isn't long for this world. The team is expected to dump it at the end of this season. That's too bad because if they ever wanted to make it their home sweater, Tex Fischer has designed the perfect complement for the road. (Oh, and my apologies to Tex for the delay in getting his work on the site.)

0011: The Big, Twisted D

Happy Leap Day! I've always said more green needs to be injected back into the NHL. The Dallas Stars seem like the perfect team to do it at the moment, and if the rumors prove true, they'll be introducing a green third jersey in 2012. Here, Matthew Duke offers up a home-road set marked by a lot of green. His twisted D logo, reminiscent of a boot spur, also happens to be one of the more creative Stars concepts I've seen.

0010: More Stars for Ohio

We're revisiting the 2013 NHL All-Star Game today with not only Avi Stein's concept logo, but a pair of uniforms as well. Avi's borrowed these crests from the AHL's 2012 all-star uniforms. There's too much great artwork in this set to squeeze it all into one image, so here's the rest.

You'll note Avi's choice to have the blue team captained by Vinny Prospal. This concept was made well prior to yesterday's trade deadline, so he was probably just hedging his bets. But come All-Star time next January, will Rick Nash still be a Blue Jacket?

0009: Bolts in Black

When the Tampa Bay Lightning unveiled their new uniforms last year, they did so to mixed reviews. Many lauded the simplified logo and traditional sweater design while others criticized the removal of a color that had become synonymous with the franchise. Here, Alex Valvo shows us that the Tampa Bay Lightning very well could have it all — simple logo, traditional sweater design... and black! Speaking as a fan, I'm a fan. Third jersey, anyone?
