0574: Stadium Threads, Chicago

The presentation may leave a little to be desired, but take a look at the actual designs. Jamie Robertson's proposal for the Chicago-based Stadium Series game is kind of interesting. (Though I know at least one Penguins fan who's about to go off in the comments!) What I find interesting is the looks from two completely different eras — not to mention a Hawks jersey that's out of thin air. This one may be a little out there but it certainly caught my eye.

0573: Fearsome Flames

It's Friday the 13th, so you were probably expecting something scary. But think about it. Imagine the possibility of the NHL looking to sublimated artwork that wraps around an entire jersey. Now that's something to truly fear.

Johnny Woods, who designed this set, wrote: "This is in the family with the Canada Cup jersey, Vancouver's Flying V and the Burger King jersey. Personally, I would buy one."

0572: Something Devilish

Today, Steven Grant shares an interesting re-striping of the Devils' uniforms. Here's his explanation:

The Devils seem to be a tough team to make good concepts for, but hopefully this attempt isn't too bad. It's basically a combination of their 1982-92 and current jerseys, but with the sleeve stripes moved up to where the TV numbers usually are, and the shoulder yoke extended down to those stripes.

0571: The WNHL Series, Part 5

The six-part Women's National Hockey League from Nick Burton continues this week with the Quebec City Wolves. From Nick on the origin of the design:

Québec Wolves/Loups du Québec — The team takes the color scheme of the Quebec Nordiques. The unused logo of the Nordiques was to be a wolf, so the team takes the name Wolves. The logo is an edited Minnesota Timberwolves logo.

Just one more team to go now. Check back next Wednesday for the finale. As for tomorrow... something "devilish" is in store.

0570: Fixing the Hurricanes

Few were impressed by the Carolina Hurricanes' new uniforms this summer. So a couple of our regular contributors to the Concepts page sent in what they thought would be great improvements. Brian Brideau rounds off the shoulder yoke of the white jersey and adds the storm flags back to both.

Meanwhile, Bastian Schmülling has a different solution. If the Canes just wanted more classic striping, why not make the storm flags a little more subtle? I'd say that would've been better than removing them entirely. Which of the two designs do you prefer?

0569: Fixing the Ducks

Dylan Alexander may have the cure for what ails the Anaheim Ducks. This green and orange number would certainly set them apart from the rest of the league — and do it in a way that didn't involve the heavy overuse of black.

Seattle Sunday is back this week with Matt McElroy's idea for a re-imagined Thunderbirds team. Currently, the T-Birds play in the WHL, but what if they gave up their name to a future NHL club?
