The home and road unis are decent, although I'd have preferred they kept the waist stripes, instead of moving them to the breezers. I don't mind the contrasting yoke on the white jersey, but I generally preferred the clean look of the solid white pre-Edge unis. I do like that they simplified things with the 2003 redesign, and the three-stripe pattern and brick red (or whatever they officially call that shade) still remind me of the later sweaters of the Montreal Maroons (which, being maroon, were obviously darker)... although, with the yoke, it now makes me think of the 1967-70 Maple Leafs (with the missing waist stripes mirroring the 2007-10 Leafs).
The third kind of reminds me of the pre-Edge Penguins, although the more curved patterns and the red undersides make it look less sleek, in my opinion, than what the designers were going for, and what could've been a pretty nice uniform just ends up looking odd, especially paired with the brick-red helmet and breezers. The whole combination just doesn't look right.
In any case, all of these unis are a vast improvement over their initial set from 1996, with that goofy southwest look, and that God-awful green sublimated third from '98. The name/number font they used was atrocious as well - it's the same font Taco Bell's been using since the '90s for their promos (complete with backwards-3-for-E). It just wasn't a good look at all.
Just wonder if we're ever going to see these jerseys on the ice again....
Are the tie-up laces on the Phoenix jerseys white, or the off white color? I bought a Coyotes home jersey from someone and I'm not sure if the laces are the right color or not
gotta signed game worn yandle jersey at one of the games, i'm certain it's real.. the strings are white.
The original jerseys werent the best jerseys in the world but they were DIFFERENT. They really stood out from the rest of the league. They really gave us our own identity and said, " hey, we're not canadian, nor traditional, or have anything to do with all that. Its Arizona" It was the late 90s when everything was supposed to be extreme and modern and cool. Now everything is traditional and kisses canada's ass. im tired of plain, boring, one colored jerseys with laced neck ties and circles for logos and stripes. I dont want to look like detroit, or toronto, or montreal. (im talking to you tampa bay) Im not from a "traditional hockey town" and im proud of that. I liked having that minor league feel and it really threw it right back in the faces of traditional markets. Its 2012, not 1912. I want a crazy, fun, colorful, cool looking jersey again. you can keep your tradition.
If the alternate was completely black it would look pretty decent in my opinion, or at least make the helmets black, the contrast looks gross.
The black alternates look really bad on t.v. You can't distinguish the Coyote on the front of the jersey, it just blends in. This is another team that should go back to their original jerseys, they were so much more fun and colourful. It seems like the NHL is trying to get rid of any individualism between the teams, all the jerseys are starting to look the same.
I think the alternate jersey logo is one of the ugliest I have ever seen.
