The third is a bit of a departure from the Blues tradition, with the circle logo and the numbers being primarily white instead of gold, but I definitely like the style. The circle logo with the arch is, at least, far better than the last time they shrank the bluenote - the mid-80s arched "BLUES" jerseys.
The regular Edge jerseys, though... basically, they took a pretty decent uniform set (the 1998 unis) and put them through a bunch of funhouse mirror filters. The splayed-out, oversized shoulder panels are clownish, the "Bettman stripes" are particularly atrocious, and the "Reebox" effect is appalling to me. The only things good about them are the colors, the logo, and the sleeve stripes. I'd rank this up with the Oilers' and Panthers' 2007 designs as among the worst Edge redesigns.
one of the top 5 sets in the league to me. love the third
Without a doubt the best jerseys in the league
I think all look good but I wish in the back where the RBK logo is the color underneath would continue across the back. It looks too much like they are framing the logo.
They are nice, but I wouldn't say that they're in the top 5, without question.
I'd put Minnesota, NYR, NYI, Montreal, Boston & Buffalo at least, ahead of them. Top 10 might be fair.
Best alts in the league.
my favorite team. not my favorite jerseys. (except i do love the thirds) question though: i was wondering does it matter that you put up pictures of players that no longer play for the Blues (i.e. Boyes, Brewer) or the no longer play at all (Tkachuk)?
The home and road are pretty average, but man, that alternate is BEAST.
I'm not going to say that these 3 are the best "overall" uniforms in the NHL, but out of all of the non-traditional looks (i.e. MTL, TOR, NYR, NYI, etc), these are easily the best. I love the home and road, and the 3rds have grown on me tremendously. It's a nice traditional look with a modern home/road set. St. Louis did what the Florida Panthers TRIED to do, except (unlike my Cats) the Blues succeeded.
Brandon, I'm sure Chris would agree that it's a matter of showing off the uniforms, not the players. Certainly, as he delves into the pre-Edge catalog, you're more likely to see moved or retired players. Plus, it's not like he's in the marketing department for these teams, and has a need to stay current (*cough*Washington Nationals*cough*).
I love the 3rds. Not a fan of our home and away sweaters. Need to go back to either the sweaters from '67 or '80. Those would be among the best sweaters in the league. The navy blue on the shoulders and on the Blue note looks almost black. Something like this would be a huge upgrade: http://imagehost.vendio.com/a/7926460/aview/sutter_88.jpg
I'm shocked at all the people saying this is even a good set. It's horrid. The alternate is nice enough, though not really a great Blues uniform in my mind. Royal and bold yellow is blues, not navy and white. In my mind anyway.
I loved the pre edge ones. The edge home and away are in contention for the worst regular set in the league. The Isles and Oilers have left that basement, which pretty much just leaves the blues and the avalanche.
They're sure as hell not top 5.
I think all the jersey's are pretty awesome, i really enjoy the modern feel to them, I'm typically disgusted with retro/heritage looking jerseys so i say they keep these for a while. As an added bonus notice the arch shaped yellow pin-stripes on the front and back (home and away).
Alternate is the best. They should make that their home and make a white version for away.
If they would use their alternate jersey with their standard logo it would be a fantastic set.
As it is, I really like their alternate, but hate the logo and hate their home and aways, but love the logo.
the blues should play a WC and use the retro late 80's and 90's jerseys
Blues had one of the best uniform sets before the edge jerseys changed up their look. I loved their 1999-2007 look... That was great!
I suggest they just reduce the size of the shoulder panels on the home and away uni's so that the "C" and "A" don't overlap, it looks stupid.
The jerseys and socks for all three sets are awesome. For some reason, though... those pants just look like a fun house mirror reflection, to me.
For the 2013-14 season, the Blues have jettisoned the script logo on their home/alt. helmets (navy blue). They replaced said script logo with the royal-blue colored primary logo - matching the one on the white road helmets.
I long-awaited change, IMO. Adds continuity - the script logo never appeared anywhere else in the uniform design, and frankly, I never liked it. It's a classic, traditional logo. No need to spell it out.
