To the best of my knowledge, Bolts are keeping alternates for next season. Thought I'd let you know.

BoltsFan: I know but there will be changes to it, even if it's just the shoulder patch with the new logo. I'll give the revised alternate its own section in this gallery.

The major problem with the new ones is that on TV they could easily be the Leafs or Canucks, or, in the case of the white ones, the Kings. The old ones didn't have that problem. They need a distinctly different colour scheme. If you really want to ditch the black and silver, there are still options. The one I like: bright red and a lighter shade of blue.

I hope they keep the third jersey with minor changes...Change the shoulder patches to the new logo and have LIGHTNING written diagonally, instead of BOLTS...I just do not like nicknames on jerseys. (i.e. SENS).

PGW - I'm with you, the thirds should say Lightning, i don't know what they were thinking using bolts.

Don't mind the new Lightning look... It's grown on me. The only things I would've done is try and somehow add some black lining to the crest and shoulder logos, drop the "Tampa" text, and use a brighter blue. This blue is too much like the Leafs blue. Otherwise, I enjoy the look alright.

In love with these new uniforms. Got one on the home opener at the Forum right when i walked into the building. How can you not love these. I just cant wait to see the celebration stripes make their come back next season. That is, if they do bring them back.

The should wear the black shorts with the bolt for all combos...they look too much like toronto

In all honesty, I respected the old black sweaters, mainly due to their championship season connection. The second ones, the RBK Edge ones from 2007 until 2011 were, to put it bluntly, horrible. That jersey template is used by the Sens and Pens, but the only team that can pull it off is the Pens because the triangle design fits in with their past uniforms. Anyway, in getting to the current blue Lightning sweaters, it took a while for me to get used to them, but they are the best that this franchise has ever had. The blue brightens up the forum, it makes their tv broadcasts more aesthetically appealing, and gives the franchise a more traditional look. This is a very young franchise, est. 1992, and a complete colour change within the first 20 years isn't too much of a stretch. Even original 6 teams made changes in their forst 20 years. The next 20-50 years will define the Bolts in history, and with success and longgevity comes respect. These sweaters look somewhat foreign now, but maybe 30 years from now, maybe add in another cup, or at least some more playoff appearances, maybe some guys are inducted into the hall of fame with these colours, and all of a sudden, those black ones, despite their place in the franchises' history, become somewhat overlooked. It's more a matter of time, because the sweaters and logo are actually nice, it's just the change that has some people up in arms. Time will cement these sweaters, because evidently, a change was needed, and a change so early in the franchises' history is best.
